RRlug is a diversely talented group of individuals who are interested in Open Source and the computer operating system, Linux. We are heading rapidly towards our seventh birthday. RRLug is located in Rockford, Illinois which is approximately 85 miles west of Chicago. All visitors are welcome, especially those near the Illinois / Wisconsin border. We cordially invite anyone to come out any time to discuss, play, and just have fun with Linux and Open Source Software....

September 16, 2005

  • Mike Urbanski will provide a demonstration on how to use Firefox as a platform for creating specialized browser based tools. He will be demonstrating the use of XUL and javascript to accomplish this task.

October 21, 2005

  • KR Foley will give a presentation and demonstration of MythTV. So if you have always wanted to have a Personal Video Recorder please plan on attending.
  • Installfest: Checklist
    1. Please bring cables / monitors / keyboards / mice
    2. Bring any Linux materials that you would like installed
    3. If you have unusual hardware, please bring all necessary documentation

November 18, 2005

  • Sam Williams is going to introduce the LUG to a newer version control system called Subversion. Part one will explain how to set up and use for non-networked version control.

December 16, 2005

  • Sam Williams will provide the second part of his Subversion presentation. Tonight we will discuss the different options for allowing Subversion to be used with network based repositories.

  • Tonight we discuss strategies for future meetings. We do this every 6 months to gauge the types of presentations the membership is interested in seeing.

  • Josh Stone will be giving a presentation on Blender for anyone that might be interested. Several members have expressed curiosity over the program and tonight we will get a little sample of its capabilities.
  • Dean Irvin will do a presentation on setting up a streaming media server using Icecast. In the future we might be able to take advantage of this with future meetings.
